When I went to K R Market, I saw
a sparrow visiting a heap of peas.
There were many chirps and when I looked around, I found many more
sparrows nearby.
I wondered why there were so many sparrows and then I
saw that the vegetable vendors have placed old cardboard boxes with hay
to provide nesting for the birds.
Life is strange. Sometimes it is cruel, but sometimes you find kindness when you least expect it.
Dear Deepa, In Gujarat, where I work, in many cities & villages, it is common practice to provide housing for birds, food & water for birds & animals. It is common to keep a large vessel near the door. All kitchen waste is kept in this vessel. Cows & pigs eat there. In village Tavi - having less than 100 families; thye must have kept more than 200 boxes for sparrows & pigeons.
